I love Paris every moment,
Every moment of the year.
I love Paris, why, oh why do I love Paris?
Because my love is near.
– Cole Porter

Lovely ones,

A friend has recently been to Paris. He was in the UK so was able to jump on a train and a few hours later, there he was – enjoying baguettes, walking the cobbled streets, and seeing all the amazing sites.

I was of course delighted for him and wanted to live vicariously through him when he told me of his adventures. But in truth, when he said he had been to Paris, I was so jealous.

And the jealousy is of course because it reminded me of how glorious Paris is. How the markets are seemingly on every street corner (they actually aren’t but it can feel like it). How the daylight hits the buildings and how the Paris administrators know the exact location for a spotlight so at night the city truly is the “city of light.”

Watching businessmen at the end of the day buy a baguette and like small children, break the end off so they can nibble something on the way home.

Walking into a supermarket and being amazed at the array of dairy products. The cheese aisle alone seemingly going on and on and on….

Finding a small, out of the way café or restaurant and thinking “why don’t we have something like this back home?”

Enjoying a Hot Chocolate and although feeling ill at the end, also feeling strangely magnificent.

Walking in the numerous parks http://Best parks in Paris – Lonely Planet or stumbling across a patisserie Galize Bicuiterie http://galize-biscuits.com or cookie shop http://Cookie Love by Jean Hwang Carrant where you just have to buy something! (see previous references to NO self-control)

Going to the flea markets and finding small antique keepsake. Or rummaging through old linen or retro kitchenware (none of which I need!) and buying something, hopefully small enough to pack.

Or wishing I was in Paris in March or September when the large antique fair runs – http://Foire de Chatou 2023 – Flea Market Insiders

Either way, it is lovely to reminisce and to dream.

Jusqu’à la prochaine fois (until next time),
Diana x
