Ingredients

2 cups self-raising flour

2Tsp sugar

1 Tsp salt

2 Tbsp olive or vegetable oil

¾ cup room temperature water

Preparation

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.

Pour in the water and olive oil, and using a rubber spatula, stir together the ingredients until they are combined.

Lightly flour your bench, turn out the dough and knead it for 1 minute until it comes together into a smooth ball. Don’t over knead the dough as over-working will make the dough tough.

Place the dough in a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it rest for 15 minutes while you prepare your pizza toppings.

When you are ready to bake, preheat the oven to 200C.

Again, lightly flour your bench then using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to into an approximate 30cm circle (or however large your tray/pizza tray is). Just make sure that the thickness of the rolled-out dough is approx. 1cm thick.

Transfer the dough circle onto a baking paper lined baking tray and top it with your sauce, toppings, and cheese.

Bake the pizza in the middle of the oven until the crust is golden and it has reached your desired level of crispiness and melted cheesiness – this should take about 20 minutes.

If the base of the pizza is not cooking to how you like (it can be how thick your oven tray is), you can carefully slide the pizza off the tray and slide it (using the baking paper) so that it is directly on the oven rack and bake it that way for the final few minutes.

Remove the pizza from the oven then slice and serve.

*Remember Tsp is a teaspoon and Tbsp is a tablespoon.
